For Sale - 1999 Gibson Custom Shop Historic 1964 Firebird III in the highly desirable Cardinal Red. Overall, the guitar is in excellent original condition -- this includes all non-tampered original wiring. These guitars were produced in very limited quantities making them rare and these early production Historic Firebirds are highly sought after due to their near perfect replication of an original 1964 Firebird. It looks, sounds and plays great. It is built with all of the vintage 1964 features including 9-ply Mahogany/walnut neck-thru body, lightning bar compensated bridge with short Maestro tailpiece, cardinal red custom color finish, dark 22 fret fingerboard, dot inlay, single-ply binding painted to the top of the binding like an original custom color Firebird. 24 3/4' scale and 1 11/16' nut width. Banjo tuners and mini-humbuckers. The top and back are near perfect but there are a few beauty marks on the edges from an overzealous friend and you will also note finish darkening under the headstock from a store hanger. These blemishes are shown in the photos in the interest of full disclosure so anyone bidding need look closely at the pictures included as they clearly show all "battle scars".Also included is the original Gibson brown case, hang tags and warranty paperwork that shows the serial number and model -- first two digits are 99 indicating year and the fourth digit is a 4 indicating that it is a 1964 reissue. Later models had the Gibson Custom Shop Certificate of Authenticity while these early ones had only the warranty card as proof of authenticity. This is a flashy killer sounding rare guitar - there were so few made that they are bound to be future collectibles.
