Focusrite's 430 MkI and 430 MkII are very similar sonically! The mic pre, compressor, EQ, gate and de-esser circuits all use the exact same designs. The MkII renders a different sonic result, utilizing vintage "opto-compressors" or VCA "limiter" modes instead of VCA "compressors" as is the case with the MkI for sale. The switchable input impedance between high/med for the ISA 110 is the same with this 430 MkI. Depends what you're searching for in your pursuit of the perfect "soundscape". Other features to the 430 MkII model are as follows: (1) Mic and line coarse gain on rotary switch instead of pots. (2) An "Air-switch", which induces inductor circuit for an open-sounding high end. (3) VU meter calibration switchable between +4dBu and +18dBu. (4) A "Compressor Blend' control" allowing you to mix between compressed and uncompressed signal. (5) Extra insert point, allowing EQ and dynamics to be split. If this (in your estimation) justifies the 'secondary market value' between the two Mk models, then by all means, dig a little deeper for those hard-earned bucks and sleep well at nights. Personally, I am very pleased with what I get out of the ISA 430 MkI model as both a player and a professional sound producer. I happen to own several of these for purposes of my own piece of mind. (6) The ISA 430 MkI also uses the same digital card as the ISA 220, which is still readily available. (7) As for the ISA 430 MkII's new digital card? It was designed differently enough not to work with it's predecessor MkI model.  (8) The MkI digital board outputs are AES on a balanced XLR connector and S/PDIF on an RCA phono jack and are also on an optical connector. The MkII card supports 176.4 and 192KHz sampling rate which the original card did not and the jitter figure and noise performance are slightly improved. Its outputs are also different: 9-pin D-sub connector outputs are either AES or S/PIDIF and allow you to route a digital signal to a maximum of four different routes. (9) There's also an ADAT 8-channel optical out and S/PDIF 2-channel optical out on the MkII. Both cards have word clock in-and-out connectors and will support Digidesign 256x superclock. This Focusrite ISA430 unit looks like new and has minimal "rack rash". The lower right corner shows small damage, but aside from that, it looks like new sitting in the rack.
