This is not your father’s Rickenbacker. There’s an art to playing the traditional models, with their narrow necks, low profile frets, funky bridges, etc. I’m a fan of the sound but don’t do well playing them. The 650 is one of the 3 wide neck model lines –at least that I’m aware of.  There’s the 660 6&12 but those have these the traditional fingerboard, low frets and single coils. There’s also the rare 380 with a wider neck. Someone said that Townshend Rose/Morris 1993 12 string reissue has a wider neck. Too bad the 650 didn’t come a 12 string version.I like this model because of the wide, very light color 2-octave maple board with taller frets, and I just love the pickups… aka ‘Rickenbuckers’. There are many claims to a pickup that is halfway between the Gibson bucker and Fender single coil, but to me –these are it. The bridge pickup has a nice single coil snap to it. I also like the very compact body, but it’s still a hunka wood weighing in at just under 8 ½ pounds. It’s also in the cool and rare ruby finish – most of these are black, natural, etc. – colors that don‘t do it for me.This is in pristine, apparently unplayed condition w/ paperwork, keys and original carton. The strings were sort of dead, so they were replaced and some minor setup work done. The only reason I am selling is I have one already, and have a few modification ideas for one of the natural finish ones that are pretty common plus one of those might even get a cool sparkle finish And a very few of these have vibrato so I want to wait it out for one of these. This is too clean to mess with – perfect as
