Up for auction is a nice old antique mid 1900s 2 pc curly maple back "Ernst Heinrich Roth" full size violin restoration/setup. The nicely figured 2 pc. curly maple back measures 14 1/16 by 8 1/8 inches. The violin is lined and has 4 corner blocks.There are no bassbar or soundpost cracks on the violin. The scroll and pegbox are in good condition and the neck is solid. The fingerboard and pegs are ebony. The pegs turn smoothly and the fingerboard is in good condition. The soundpost is standing inside the violin and there are no open seams. The violin had been setup with strings that look they have not been played on. The violin is labelled as a "Ernst Heinrich Roth Bubenreuth Erlangen 1959 Made In West Germany Reproduction of Antonius Stradivarius Cremona 1700" and it is also branded "Ernst Heinrich Roth Bubenreuth Erlangen 1639R". The violin is for restoration/setup. The violin has age related scratches/wearmarks on the varnish as well as some corner wear (please check pics). There is also what looks like a serial number to the right of the endpin (please check pics). Please check pics. and email questions. More pics. available upon request.
