Travel back in time with this vintage acoustic guitar. Built in 1958 (FON T5374 on the inner neck heel) at the historic Gibson factory in Kalamazoo, Michigan, it's an LG-0. In fact, 1958 was the year the long-running (1958-1974) LG-0 was introduced. A smaller guitar with a 14-1/8" lower bout and 24-3/4" scale. All-mah0gany body. R0sewood bridge. 20 frets. Brown tortoiseshell binding on the top. Waverly tuners. The bass-side tuner strip had been replaced with a non-period non-matching tuner strip in a clumsy way that included routing out the sixth E-string shaft hole. It now has the proper matching period-correct Waverly tuner strips. There were a couple hairline cracks on the back that have been cleanly glued shut. The nut is a replacement. The frets and fingerboard in the first three frets (a.k.a. "the cowboy position") are quite worn, but it still plays well there. In fact, I absolutely love the way this guitar sounds. It has been much-played so there is much ordinary play wear all over: peghead, neck, front, back and sides. Neck is appropriately straight. Truss rod works. 12th fret action is about 7/32" on both sides. A prior owner proudly put a "I Gave to Protect Our Right to Keep and Bear Arms" Second Amendment Foundation sticker on the top lower bout. I could have taken it off, but... What the heck, the man gave, so I've left it on. I checked the inside of the guitar under the sticker to see if there might be a crack the sticker was hiding, but there isn't. So, the sound. I just put new strings on it and... I guess I hadn't played an old Gibson acoustic for too long 'cause the sound really hooked me. The way the six strings just all blend together on big old open chords is remarkable. It's a great sounding guitar. She ain't no closet queen though. She's been played and played. Maybe all the playing vibrated the wood into something extra special. I don't know, but I do know it just sounds good. Comes with a non-orignal black chipboard case in fair condition (one of the three case hinges is broken, but the latches and handle all work).              If you do make an offer during business hours, please know that I typically respond to offers within the hour. Questions?      It will be well packed with plenty of new 1/2" bubble wrap and shipped in a new 46"x19"x7" stout cardboard instrument box.
