Travel back in time with this vintage plectrum banjo. Made by Vega in Boston, Massachusetts in 1967 (serial number A128222), just three years before Vega sold out to Martin, it's a Wonder plectrum banjo. It was one of the main playing banjos of a very avid amateur banjo player (of whom I just bought most of his collection). So, the frets do have wear all the way up to the 12th fret, and a bit up to the 15th, but the frets do still have music left in them. There is some ordinary play wear, like on the back of the neck, edges of peghead, back of resonator, like that. The metal finish looks quite good, but does have some ordinary wear. If you've gotten this far, you likely know that this is not a common model at all. With a working truss rod, the neck is appropriately straight. Original Vega hide head still in good condition. Grover bridge. Presto tailpiece. Covered geared tuners look like Grovers, but are unmarked. 12th fret action is great, between 2/32" and 3/32", so it is truly a great playing banjo. Comes with the Vega banjo wrench key for adjusting the pot hooks. Really, the prior owned cared for his instruments like they were his babies, so, for a very much-played 50-year old banjo, it's in just about as good condition as it could be. Comes in what-I-believe to be the original hard case, which is gorgeous and lined with padded orange velvet. Also comes with two plectrum banjo instruction books: Arthur Black's very old "A Practical Plectrum Method of rthe Standard Banjo" and Elbert Bidwell's "Plectrum Banjo Course," both of which are in worn condition. If you're a beginner, or a collector, please let me know if you're interested in any tenor banjo instruction or music books, as I have about 100 for sale that I have not listed yet!                  If you do make an offer during business hours, please know that I typically respond to offers within the hour. Questions?     It will be well packed with plenty of new 1/2" bubble wrap and shipped in a new 46"x19"x7" stout cardboard instrument box.
