75.6g without rosin 735mm UnstampedVintage viola bow highly sprung stiff straight bowNatural material frog not bone Solid 18ct gold fittedThe soft gold is worn in places as can be expectedCosmetic wear only the bow is fully functioningWith new hair I submitted this as 18ct gold mistakenly and it passed, yet the assay officer informed me that the gold was 961 not 750 and should have been submitted as 22ct (950)I am describing it for legal reasons therefore as 18ct and yet it is in fact better then 22ct and almost certainly formed out of a raw gold nugget which is usually just over 22ct never 24ct (refined gold)The shows in the softness and the almost rosy colour The bow was oil treated not varnished in the traditional English manner so no chipping at allI would say the bow is circa 1880-1890 It is a superb and beautiful bow in my opinionSince I am a small UK sole trader this is supplied with 0% VATFeel free to come and try or call 01206 520974Due to the Natural frog and tip material this is EU only please unless you want to contact me and arrange your own collection.
