Up for sale, a 1977 Fender Precision Bass in excellent condition and in perfect working order. This bass features the original finish on the neck and a stunning aged nitro lacquer refin on the body and pickguard in a lightly ambered custom color Antigua, courtesy of MJT. Fitted with a '70s gray bobbin Fender split coil pickup and a new wiring harness, this bass is ready for stage and studio use, with the deep thump and articulate, low end fullness that comes with a great Precision Bass. The instrument weighs in at 10lbs 14oz, balances well on a strap, and has a strong fundamental acoustic tone. We've had this bass professionally setup here at Mike & Mike's Guitar Bar with D'addario Chromes flatwound 45-100 strings, spot-on intonation, and comfortable action. The maple neck has a medium C shaped profile that has just enough chunk and roundness to feel substantial. The 25 1/2" scale features original medium jumbo frets which show only light wear on the crowns beneath the A and D strings on frets 1-5, and sparingly little wear up the neck. The 1 5/8" with nut is a hand carved piece of bone. On the headstock, the original chrome Fender tuning machines are intact, and beneath the original Fender logo is an "S7" prefix serial number, dating the bass to 1977.All of the electronics work as they should, with new factory-spec 250k CTS solid shaft pots, and new knurled metal Volume and Tone knobs. The '70s gray bobbin pickup is era-correct and complete with original windings on both bobbins as well as the stock plastic leads. The "ashtray" bridge and pickup covers as well as the bridge are genuine vintage Fender hardware. All body routes are original and unmodified, and the nitro lacquer finish on the body is an upgrade from the original (thicker) poly in every sense. MJT aged both the body and pickguard with a tasteful relic job consisting of horizontal lacquer checking and a few scattered nicks and dings on the edges of the body. There is also a bit of lacquer touchup on the neck profile behind frets 1-2.A non-original hardshell case is included. Please check out our shop "Mike & Mike's Guitar Bar" on the web, and feel free to call us directly with any questions at 206.399.8518.Shipping in the continental USA will be $60, fully insured and shipped via FedEx Ground.
