Up for sale is a Vintage (late 70's, early 80's) Renaissance Plexiglass Bass. This was a High-End Made-in-USA Instrument and other than a replaced active toggle switch(a near perfect match), this bass is All-Original and in Excellent condition. Features include: Clear Plexiglass Body; Figured Maple/Mahogany Laminate Neck; Ebony Fingerboard; Dimarzio Pick-Ups with Active Electronics; Brass Nut, Plates, and Truss Rod Cover; Badass Bridge; Grover Tuners; and Gold Hardware. Nut Width 1.57"; Scale Length 33-1/4"; Weight is 12lbs.   This bass has been played some over the years but well cared for with normal to mild aging/wear and excellent overall condition for its age.   Structurally solid and without issue: Neck is straight and any fret wear is mild; Electronics work great with 'maybe' some very mild/typical static upon adjustment; no warps/cracks etc - SOLID!   Cosmetically overall, this bass is very clean with only mild/negligible wear on the actual body and neck. The gold-plated bridge and tuners are very clean for their age. The worst cosmetic issues are: a few ''nicks' and some circular marks on the top brass control plate around the active switch (see pics); some tarnish/wear on the neck plate(see pics); and some scratches/marks on the 'G' side neck pick-up (details below). This bass is not 'mint' but in well above average condition for its age and in Collectors Grade Condition.   NOTE: The bass is set-up with 'medium' action and plays well. The neck is straight and the action can be lowered without fret issues, however the neck pick-up is 'fixed' (no height adjustment) and is tall enough to cause buzzing in the upper register with lower action(mostly on the D,G). This can be fixed 2 ways(there are other methods that are more extreme) 1: shim-up and slightly angle the neck at the joint; 2: Shave the bottom plastic edge of the pick-up itself to lower the pick-up itself which appears to have been slightly attempted(in addition to some sanding on the top edge-see pic) but not completed. This 'attempt' is far from extreme but felt it worth mentioning. The bass (especially given the shorter scale/tension) is more than 'playable' to most but if you want the best performance it has to offer, this issue will need to be addressed.
