The G&L ASAT Classic is the evolution of Leo Fender's groundbreaking Telecaster® with a gorgeous Spalted Alder Top for visual and tonal enhancement. We've found that the Spalted tops add a slight warming effect to the tone, sort of the opposite of a maple top. The Combination of Spalted Alder and Swamp Ash makes for a particularly sweet tone with nice glistening highs and a balanced midrange.Right out of the box this guitar is a ton of fun. One of the unique features on this ASAT classic is the 'Slim C' neck profile. With a traditional 9.5" radius and the slim taper, it’s perfect for players who like to easily wrap around the neck or even use their thumb. Every USA G&L is Plek'd to perfection, so the playability is top notch.The ASAT MFD pickup brings out the best of classic Tele neck tones, but with better attack and clarity throughout the range. If you’ve tried to love a Tele neck pickup, this may be your match. Punchy and sweet all at once, it also takes distortion pedals quite well, and did not get compressed or blurry when goosed with the Keeley Red Dirt.The ASAT Bridge steals the show with plenty of bouncy twang and shimmering clarity without the sharp edges. Perfect for country and sparkling rhythm work, it can also really get down to business. The fuller midrange of the MFD design really works well with pedals, and it make a great classic rock pickup. Not as heavy as a humbucker, but more articulate with great harmonic content. As we say, you can play a Rock Show Friday night, and a Square Dance on Saturday.This is a deceptively versatile guitar, and its ability to flow from country twang to jazz, blues, funk and killer rock crunch makes it hard to put down.
