Up for no reserve auction is my vintage original 1960 Fender Custom Telecaster guitar. This is the real deal, not a reissue! I've own this guitar since the early 1980's been in my collection and stored until now. This is what I know, the guitar is all original except for the previous owner had the top of the body only, professionally refinished. It is a nice job with correct colors in nitrocellulose lacquer. The back and sides of the body have not been touched and is the 100% original Fender finish! Only the top was restored to match the original finish of the back and sides. As you can see from the photos the body has no routs, cracks or repairs. You can clearly see the original 12-60 date penciled in the bridge pickup cavity. The neck finish is also 100% original. Great feeling 59/60 neck shape. It is straight with a excellent working truss rod. It appears the previous owner had replaced the tuners at one time because there are filled screw holes and a couple of small chips where the bushings may have been removed then reinstalled when the original keys were put back on. The Custom Telecaster decal is 100% original including the frets, nut and string tree which are also original. Beautiful original slab Brazilian Rosewood fretboard with original clay markers. It is also dated 10-60 in original pencil at the base of the neck next to the truss rod adjustment.This Tele sounds killer with both pickups being 100% original including all hardware, screws, rubber bushings, 3 way switch and tip, clothwire, caps, output jack, control plate, knobs and 1 pot all being 100% original. The original CTS tone pot is coded 137 6047 which means 137=CTS 60=1960 47=47th week. The replaced volume pot is coded 137 7221 which means 137=CTS 72=1972 21=21st week. The complete bridge plate is 100% original including rear string ferrules. The celluloid nitrate pickguard and screws are 100% original and in excellent condition has not shrunk with no cracks or breaks. The neck plate and screws are 100% original with 56366 stamped into it designating 1960 manufacture date.Original bridge pickup reads 6.31K and the original neck pickup reads 6.74K on my ohm meter. The guitar is setup and intonated with a new set of Ernie Ball Super Slinky .009's plays great with no issues. The original Fender bound body is 2 piece Alder with the entire guitar weighting in at only 6.8 lbs. on my digital scale, very lightweight and highly resonant!Also included with this killer sounding Telecaster is the original ash tray bridge cover and the original 1959 Fender Tweed hardshell case WOW! The case is really clean with all latches, hinges and handle in good working condition, no smoke or bad smell. Tweed and leather shows some wear but all in all great shape and solid. Interior is also clean and in great shape. This guitar has never been circulated until now.
