Magnificent William S. Haynes Sterling Silver Alto Flute in G, Vintage 14xxx Circa 1935 Boston. A Glorious Instrument and in fantastic condition.No signs of any damage or repairs, pads good. This flute was owned by a Top LA Flautists in the 50-1970's that did Motion Picture calls here in Los Angeles.it has a fat, rich dark tone as one would expect and these are extremely rare. This has a new Custom Jim Kiel Alto Flute case, leather clad and plush blue velvet interior.I was custom made and North wind Cases makes flute cases for Haynes, Powell etc. I also have this with a Brand New Cavallero Case cover. The lip plate really feels lush and just grips you air flow and helps create a superb fat tone with ample response. This is about as good as it gets for an Alto Fluteand sonically speaks only a Rare VQ Powell Alto is its rival. I am also including the Original Case a bit tattered but still very functional and it shows the VintageBaxter Northup Logo inside, that is still located in Van Nuys California. A rare package indeed and looking for a new home. I have a similar Alto flute from 1964 which I an very happy with and use that for my studio work.
