***Selmer Mark VI Alto Sax. 1954 Serial #59XXX. Collectors Dream!***

This is a beautiful example of a collectors dream 1954 Selmer Mark VI alto saxophone! Serial number is 59XXX. If you are a serious collector or player then this is THE ONE, you’ll not find a better example of a first year Mark VI alto. Boasting at least 95% of it’s original lacquer, this horn has never had any repairs, resolders, dent work, etc. This horn was very recently inspected by a highly acclaimed NYC repair tech and passed with flying colors/sounds. The original neck has the matching serial number and all the blue lacquer remains in the Selmer S. I am the second owner of this horn. I acquired this horn a few years ago from the original owner, who bought it from a music shop in Baltimore, MD. It has spent most of its life sitting under a bed. There is A LOT of playing life left in this instrument, as it is practically brand new. Not only is this horn a closet queen, but an incredible player as well! The sound is dark, full, and powerful. But what’s most impressive is the core to the sound. There is not a corner left in the room that isn’t filled with a deep, rich saxophone sound. If you are an ensemble player, you can cut above the group if need be, or blend in along with the section. Everything you’d expect from a 5 digit Mark VI sound is present here and more. Multiple NYC professionals have played this sax and all have been amazed by it’s control and sound. Included is a Mark VI Varitone neck that was purchased at the same time (do not be confused, this neck is included with the purchase of the saxophone which consists of the original neck with matching serial number). The Varitone neck does not have a serial number and is a little lighter shade of lacquer than that of the original neck and horn. Original case is included.
