Ariel Ameijenda – 2016 Ariel Ameijenda was born in Montevideo, Uruguay, in 1963, the son of one of that country’s most famous guitar makers, Manuel Ameijenda. Ariel’s father had learnt this difficult art from Juan Carlos Santurion. Santurion had studied at Fleta’s workshop in Barcelona, Spain in the early 1950’s. As a child helping in his father’s workshop, Ariel learned the finest techniques used by world-class makers of classical guitars and renaissance and baroque string instruments. More importantly, the passion necessary for such pursuits came to him quite naturally and very early in life. At the age of 14, under his father’s guidance, Ariel progressed from helping with repairs to the construction of his first instruments. In 1997 Ariel opened his own workshop in Montevideo. He now sells guitars and period string instruments to musicians all over the world. In order to respond to the growing list of orders placed to purchase his guitars, in 2014 Ariel moves to the heavenly settings of the Cerro de los Burros near the city or Piriapolis in the East Coast of Uruguay, to be able to fully commit to the manufacturing or the finest guitars in a workshop personally designed by him for this purpose. This guitar has a cedar top and Indian rosewood back and sides. This guitar has the warmth and colour we would expect from cedar top guitar. What surprises us is the pleasent brilliance of the trebles that is more like spruce. The tuners are made by Gotoh. Comes with a hard-shell case. Luthier: Ariel Ameijenda Construction year: 2016 Top: Cedar Back and sides: Indian Rosewood Scale: 650 mm Nut: 52 mm
