This auction is for a mint condition, fully tested and refurbished Roland RE-501 Chorus Echo effect unit.  The unit is in near flawless cosmetic condition and has just been extensively refurbished - it is in full working order and sounds as close to new as these things can.  It has spent the last 5 years in storage, and I figured it was time to part with it.  I initially acquired it after using effect pedals like the Akai Headrush and wanted to know what the real thing sounded like. The RE-501 is feature rich - with a sound-on-sound, chorus, 6 different echo modes, and reverb tank - providing a vast array of analog effects. The repair work was done by the technicians at Control Modular Synthesizers and Electronic Devices in Brooklyn, NY and includes: new bearings for motor, replaced felt, installed new tape, cleaned tape path and heads, full calibration and azimuth adjustment. The item will be very securely packaged and shipped with insurance via FedEx.  Shipment will be free of charge. Buyers must be in the US and have positive feedback. From Wikipedia:
The Roland RE-501 was the last tape effect that Roland produced as the introduction of digital delay and reverb was quickly replacing the older style tape effects. It included a newer orange and black livery that fit in with the new range of Roland Rack products. Roland also released a rackmount version of the RE-501 known as the SRE-555. The RE-501 was built using Roland's free running tape system that minimized wow and flutter and extended the life of the tape for more than 300 hours of use. It included dual outputs for a three dimensional sound. The outputs included unbalanced, and for the first time, balanced XLR outputs putting it into the professional range of studio effects.New to the 501 and 555 was the chorus effect. They also had noise reduction systems which gave a much cleaner sound than earlier models
