A fine example of the work by Master Luthier Kazuo Yairi. These are the most desirable models that he had a direct hand on in building and supervision. His company also built guitars in the 90's for guitar maker George Lowden which are exception guitars on their own. The serial number has long fallen off (they are made of plasticized gold paper and is attached to the back of the headstock with adhesive) but I purchased this guitar in 1992 from a fellow band member and am the second owner. It has been unplayed for nearly 20 years with a set of extra light gauge strings with the tension backed off and in a case. I have recently installed light gauge strings as my style has developed with the thicker string preference. Guitar is in great shape and I recently tested the electronics and everything works as it did 20 years ago. The last two photos show a 1 inch scratch in the lower bout treble side and also where I had applied a thin layer of clear nail polish around the jack hole 22 years ago to protect and stabilize a couple of developing hairline cracks around the jack hole. The nail polish and scratch don't show well on the photos but I needed to make sure they are mentioned as part of the guitar description. A couple other tiny nicks but otherwise I overall great condition. The two hairline cracks have not changed at all and they were there when I purchased the guitar. Neither imperfections are visible as they are at the bottoms of the instrument when played, and do not affect the functions of the instrument. The gold plated hardware has shown age but are all in working order. The good is that this has the most natural sounding pickup I have ever heard. No soundhole means no feedback so this is great for live performance! Great looking pearl inlay around the top! Comes with HSC. No international shipping so please do not bid if you are not in the CONUS.
