This is a rare and original black USA-built Steinberger GS7ZA guitar. This is a scarce Steinberger model, and finding a gorgeous, all-original Newburgh, N.Y. built example like this one is a rare event. This guitar was just restored and set-up by Jeff Babicz, who was the former head of production at the Steinberger Sound factory in Newburgh, N.Y. Jeff dressed and polished the frets, serviced the electronics and set-up the guitar. The volume and tone pots, as well as the 5-way selector switch were cleaned, and the output jack was replaced.GS7ZA's have amazing tone versatility, as the factory mini-toggle converts the EMG 89 humbuckers to single-coil sound. This, in conjunction with the HAZ Labs active EQ allows for incredible tone range. A great playing guitar that's just been serviced by the world's top Steinberger tech and is ready for the next 30 years of service. It now plays and performs as well as (or probably better than) the day that it left the factory. The GS series was one of the last guitars designed and built by Ned Steinberger at the Newburgh, N.Y. factory. This was the first (and only) time that a Steinberger instrument was produced with a headstock, and original Newburgh examples are very rare. The tuning system is revolutionary, and the knife edge knut really functions as designed. This is Ned's only guitar series that does NOT require double ball-end strings. This example is in gorgeous condition. There are a few tiny finish flaws (see photos), but they are purely cosmetic and do not affect the playability or performance in any way. This Steinberger GS7ZA guitar will ship in its original factory-logo black Steinberger gig-bag with its vibrato arm, a new black cotton strap, an extra set of strings, and a copy of Jeff's work-order.
