MODIFIED 1988 SQUIER STRATOCASTER "E-SERIES"  The instruments labelled "Squier" from Fender built in 1980s are still known today as high quality instruments. This one here is a Squier Stratocaster japanese-made in 1988 with many modifications. In the late 1970's, Fender was facing competition from lower priced Japanese-made guitars. Since Japanese labor and production costs were much lower than in America and to compete with the other companies, Fender moved the lower priced Squier models production from America to Japan. In March 1982, Fender Japan, Ltd. was officially created as a joint-venture between Fender, Kanda Shokai and Yamano Gakki. In 1984, CBS sells Fender to its current owners and while waiting for a new USA factory to begin production, Fender Japan models and leftover USA stock were mostly sold in the USA for a few years. The construction quality is legendary on these early japanese Fender guitars. ALEMBIC PICKUPS Alembic instruments have always commanded attention for their clear, direct sound. We were the first to bring active circuitry to basses and guitars way back in 1969 -- even before we made instruments. You could say that Alembic pioneered the replacement pickups and electronics industry. You may be accustomed to active electronics sounding "sterile." While this may be true for other manufacturers' electronics, Alembic Activators produce rich, natural tones. The Activator pickups and electronics systems feature a simple straightforward design that accurately reproduces the motion of the string, including your own subtle fingering techniques. Unlike traditional pickups where the coils are used to "voice" or color the sound, the Activator pickups serve only to translate the string motion into the corresponding electronic signals with the highest fidelity possible. The pickups reject magnetic hum and are completely sheilded with an expanded copper Faraday cage to eliminate noise.
SPERZEL GUITAR TUNING MACHINES Sperzel tuning keys consist of advanced design standards. Every component is designed to provide stable performance and reliable action during combined movements. Our standards do not allow loose or floating components that are evident with older, traditional stock tuning keys. Eliminating age-old tuning problems and improving tuning capabilities was recognized on the back cover of the October 1979 issue of Guitar Player magazine, where it was described as "the first significant advance in guitar tuning capabilities." Our tuning keys are machined from solid billet aluminum for light weight and held to precise tolerances and quality checks to produce a precision tuning key. All of this combines to help eliminate shaft wobble and endplay and minimize backlash.
