Up for sale, a 1990 Fender '62 vintage reissue Stratocaster, honestly played and in good working order. Designed to pay homage to the golden era Pre-CBS Strat, Fender Japan included everything that was signature to that era including the the 'slab'-type (thick) rosewood fretboard, pre-1965 style 'spaghetti' Fender logo on the headstock, three single coil pickups with staggered-height alnico pole-pieces, and individual routes in the body for each pickup (i.e. not the universal 'swimming pool' routing). An early reissue crafted in the famed Fujigen factory in Japan, this early "Made in Japan" Strat nails the chimey, slightly scooped midrange Strat sound with aplomb. The neck pickup delivers a throaty zing, while the "in between" positions have plenty of the classic quack for which Strats are known. Acoustically resonant and well balanced on a strap, this Strat weighs 8lbs 4oz. Professionally setup here at Mike & Mike's Guitar Bar with 10-46 strings, this guitar plays great with low action and solid intonation. The maple neck has a medium C shape with moderate depth, plenty of roundness in the shoulders, and rolled fretboard edges. The rosewood fretboard has a 7 1/4" vintage fretboard radius and stock slender fretwire that shows notable wear in the first position beneath the G and B strings, with fainter wear and light flattening of the fret crowns beneath those strings until roughly the octave. The guitar plays cleanly in all positions with no buzzing or dead spots, and the neck is straight with a functional truss rod. The headstock sports a Pre-CBS small Strat shape, with correct logo and Kluson style Gotoh tuners which turn smoothly and hold pitch well.On the body, the electronics all work as they should, with three original staggered pole piece, alnico V magnet single coils. The vintage style tremolo/vibrato bridge is faithful to Fender's early 1960s design, sporting "Fender" branded saddles, anchored to the body with six crosshead, dome-top screws.  The full size zinc tremolo block adds to the fullness of this Strat's tone, and actuates easily for quick surfy warbles and deeper dives. Cosmetically, this guitar shows some assorted minor nicks and dings around the edges of the body, with a larger finish chip adjacent to the strap button on the bass side body horn and another nick at the treble side waist of the body (both of which have light touchup). There is pickwear across the body in the area of the neck pickup, and some small dings on the top, mostly centered near the bass side waist. There is also light buckle rash on the back near the belly contour. Structurally the guitar is in great shape, and this is a resonant, professionally setup and purposefully played early Fujigen-made Strat.Don't miss out on this soulful example of a "Made in Japan" 1962 reissue Strat that easily rivals most USA built counterparts!
