ABOUT  THIS  PICKUP
This is also listed on reverb and may sell there first, don't miss out.
Hello, this is one very nice Rhythm Chief 1000 being offered for your consideration.Top quality, sounds superb and is in amazingly immaculate shape for a 60+ year old pickup.
If you've been searching for years, looking for just the right pickup for your Gibson, D'Angelico, Massari, Martin, Buscarino, Commins, D'aquisto, even your Kay, Harmony or Silvertone, well, look no further, I wouldn't b-s ya, this is hot at 7.30K and sounds beautiful.
This pickup is from the 1950 to 1953 era. The 1948 & 49' versions had 3 capacitors, changed to two in late 49'.More details on this subject below in same color type. This works flawlessly and sounds absolutely amazing.
This pickup is 100% vintage original. Every solder joint is authentic vintage original. Completely untouched which is extremely rare as the wire between the pickup head and controls almost always has dried out requiring its replacement.
Most of the work I get sent to me is 99% of the time is to replace this exact wire.
Don't miss out... I can guarantee this will not last long at this price.
Everything about this pickup is 100% original to the piece including the wire between pickup head and controls, 100% untouched original.
CONTROLS: Work perfectly, including switch, guaranteed 100%.CONTROL MODULE: Very nice, better than average vintage used condition, all original, guaranteed to be exactly as portrayed in images and as described.
Knobs: original vintage ice cube clear.
Pickup surround: very nice, clean, no issues
Pickup coil: guaranteed 100% authentic vintage original
Output in DCv: 7.30KΩ.PICKUP WIRE TO CONTROLS: full length untouched original.
MONKEY STICK: vintage original monkey stick. Very nice vintage original condition. I adjusted the pickup clip that grips the stick, it slides very nicely as if its on a ball bearing but, stays where ya put it. Top plate is very nice with original screws.
Output Cable: Comes with a 10 foot cable.
The control module' flange that extends from the volume/tone module has its wear from use and bending, one minor ding left after straightening, most of the scratches get hidden while clamped in place.
"continued from above"
In 1954, both the 1100 and 210 pickups were introduced.CTS (Chicago Telephone Supply) provided their first tiny potentiometers with the mini D shaft that accepted the same mini dome knobs being used on all of their newly introduced and future pickups.
Harmony / Silvertone signed a deal with Rowe to build their pre-assembled pickguards with the new silver and gold foils and Hershey bar pickups designed specifically for them using the same knobs.By far, the best era for both Rowe industries and DeArmond Musical Instrument Microphone Pickups.... Yes, and for us too!The description is over.Felts: both original on pickup in image, its soft & secure, control module has original soft and secure also.
Ask for more pictures if needed, I'll either email them directly to you, add them to description or both.
It sounds absolutely perfect having that mojo vibe for which these are sought, bold tight bottom end, clear mids and crisp hi's.Meters at 7.30KΩ.There is common play-wear on the pickups chrome surround, no mentionable dings or dents. The original red pickup insert top has common wear and only minor scratches.
The control module shows its share of common use, common surface abrasions from years of use, cleaning/polishing lines, is nice, still shiny, reflective and extremely clean. The knobs are original ice cube clear, nice and secure.
The top and bottom mounting plates have no flaws to hurt the strings while firmly mounted to them.
The monkey sticks secondary function provides the grounding for the circuit which helps squelch unwanted RF and EMF noises as it was designed to do.
The top plate is new chromium stainless steel, no corrosion in its future whatsoever.
That's about it as far as this pickup goes, unless you have any questions.
Man I really think I'm making a mistake selling this one, it sounds that nice!!We'll see, good luck and enjoy! Thanks, Mitch.~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~PLEASE, if you need anything, pictures, questions answered, please ask before you bid or at least before it's shipped.Yes, I took these images, not scanned from a magazine or book like some are accusing me of!!. These are taken with the pickup on an X-ray viewer lit behind the pickup. It gives no shadows or background, a recommendation from my Father who was a professional photographer. These original pickups are getting harder and harder to find especially in this condition and obviously the prices are on the climb because of the rarity of market availability. Those that have them are holding on to them like a treasure. I guarantee all of my pickups work at 100% and are as described above or your money back, no questions asked.
Yes, description is over. Below is, Shipping, a tip on keeping a monkey stick pickup in one piece for life, a short tutorial on the Rhythm Chief 1000 and why to buy all your DeArmonds from me.That's it, nothing else to read unless you wish to, no hidden details nor fine print.

A TIP:Never remove the pickup from the Monkey Stick (DeArmond call this a Pressure Rod) with the controls still attached to the clamp of the monkey stick. I get more work sent my way from people pulling the pickup head clean off the wire from pulling the pickup from the stick, winding up with a pickup in their hand with the controls still on the guitar or still on the monkey stick.Hold the controls in the same hand you are removing the pickup with, you will have your pickup in one piece for a long time.Use 2 fingers (pointer and middle fingers, one finger on either side of the stick, fingers around pickup head) to hold the controls and pickup head while pulling the stick, twisting back and forth with other hand until they come apart, all pressure should be with the stick hand.

ABOUTTHE RHYTHM CHIEF1000 PICKUP

The Rhythm Chief Model 1000 pickup was first introduced in 1948 and still today is recognized as the worlds finest Archtop Guitar pickup ever made. It's truly the best of the best which reproduces your guitars natural timbre beautifully.
The heavenly sounding 1000 pickup with its pure clean power, does not feedback, even if put through a Marshall stack, unless you intentionally get very close the the speaker. Hollow body guitars with a magnetic pickup notoriously howl like all get out but, not the 1000, pure clean power, zero feedback.
The rhythm chief pickup changes your acoustic archtop guitar into a tone machine when used in gentle saturation, kinda dirty to full blown distortion but, still captures the subtle nuances of the finest archtops when used cleanly.
The now called "Monkey Stick" was nicknamed this do to the slight resemblance to the children's toy of that time. This monkey stick mounts to the strings between the bridge and tail which helps ground it preventing or at least highly squelching any radio or electromagnetic frequency interference hum. Installs quite easily and comes off easily leaving zero evidence it was ever installed even after decades of being installed.
The coil uses 44ga. wire averages about 1+/- ohm per foot, think about that, if the pickup measures 7K or {Kilo-ohms=1000 ohms} that's 7000 +/- feet of wire, over a mile of wire that is thinner than a human hair makes up the pickups coil. Just something to think about.

WHY BUY FROM ME?
Accessibility:I'm only a phone call or an email away should you ever have a question about DeArmond pickups. I'm here to answer your questions or just help of any kind when you need it. I list my phone number on every auction page. My email can be found by checking your paypal payment email.Other Sellers:
So many DeArmond pickups on eBay get listed by sellers with little to no experience with pickups. Many admittedly, have ZERO knowledge of what a working pickup sounds like or how to test a pickup coil to be 100% positive it's in working condition even if they have a meter to use. Some may try being slick by listing with a weasel clause by adding phrases like "as found condition", "not sure of working condition", "item not tested, looks great" or even better "old electronics are sold as is", "item appears to be in great condition" or, even worse, "was told these are rare and can sound really nice", what does that that even mean" uh!Too many sellers list DeArmonds as garage sale/flea market finds along with other nick-knacks, household goods and the like. For them, it's probably the only DeArmond they'll ever see let alone sell. Look at other DeArmond Pickups listed and see what "else" they're selling, you'll see. Beware of sellers not listing the output resistance for the specific pickup, that should be a no-brainer to run, right? Right!Far too many  are listed with problems you don't know about and not described because they simply just don't know any better. You wind up buying it, only to discover, it has minor issues that require costly repairs or major problems and need to return to the seller, we all know that's always a treat, oh man. I've had one pickup returned in 14 years, that was a Rhythm Chief being to expensive for the Wife to agree to after buying but, did take a guitar mike and he still has that, no problems. This pickup was actually returned because, "it didn't fit?"Purchasing a DeArmond pickup is like choosing an automobile? Yes, at least to me and should be too you. Buying/selling a DeArmond pickup is like the sale of an automobile, deserved of a full and thorough inspection because they are an investment, especially at the prices they sell for today and will sell for in the future. You wouldn't buy half a dozen cars and keep returning them till you find one that's working 100% now would yeh? I didn't think so.
Why do it with pickups.

Some sellers do the "tap test", if any testing at all. By holding it close to plucked strings on an instrument or tapping on the pickup with something, listening and hearing noise, they settle on "sounds like it works". That's like trusting the key to test a car. It's plugged in, has the appearance of functionality, it's considered working or running by the seller, listed then sold to you?, we all know there's much more to it than that. This is one instance where hearing is not believing.
A dead pickup puts out sound?Yes, absolutely. Inductive capacitance creates a false sense of security thinking it works. It will be weak, have little if any bass response and feeds-back when the volume of the amp is turned up. You should immediately notice the amp level must be much greater to achieve the same level of a working pickup and definitely doesn't sound the same, not as full bodied. These vintage DeArmond pickups aren't much different in practicality compared to those pickups of today. They need no preamp or anything else for that matter, just an amp to work. So, when working these should be similar in audible strength as your electric guitar pickups. It's DeArmonds tonality that's the major difference that sets them apart. What I Do:If you have read about my pickups or have been sent here from other dealers, you have come to the right place for perfectly working DeArmond parts, cables and pickups which are all I sell.If you did not know
I take these completely apart, meticulously clean, inspect and test every aspect of each and every part giving and insuring these many more years of life once you get them in your possession. Some of my pickups can have up to 5 hours of my time invested in them and that's before I prepare to list them. Do I charge a little more than fair market value?
Yes, only a little, but I earn every last penny for maybe $10! Don't be fooled by people trying to sell their grungy questionably functional pickup with who knows what kind of issues for the same price I ask, I bust my hump insuring you're getting nothing but the best. Those other sellers do nothing but sell to you and forget about you, you'll see.  I will check in with you from time to time to be sure you are satisfied, this may be known to me prior to asking when you leave feedback for me. Only then can I be ready to return my feedback.I work extremely hard for your trust and to deserve your 5-Star levels in each category for a 20-Star total, anything less and I'm not doing my job.
Please read my feedback, I love working on these and selling them to a fellow guitar player and want you to have nothing but the best I can offer, always.I strive to keep these pickups alive and to earn the eBay communities trust. Believe you me, I truly earn every penny you invest and guarantee you'll be able to sell your pickup for the same price today, even more in the future that you'll pay today. The pickups I've sold or repaired for resale sell easier with my name associated with the pickup, just mention its one of my items, those who know will appreciate it and buy that item first. I know, it sounds like I'm tooting my own horn, that's because I feel that I can. I've been working on these for over 40 years and do these right, just read my feedback!100% functioning is my standard!

Is it yours? It should be! I take all those worries mentioned above away by doing all I can, using my 40 + years of experience working with and on, repairing, modifying and using these timeless classics.I buy nearly every "supposed" working or worthy DeArmond pickup listed on eBay. I still need to return more than 6 of 10 or 60% on average because they don't function correctly or they're completely dead, simply not working at all and many sellers won't work with me  as they "don't accept returns", fun.....! The DeArmonds I sell are guaranteed working at 100% and my personal promise to you or 100% of your money back as long as its not "as described".Be an informed buyer:Be an informed buyer, you can ask a bunch of questions to an uniformed seller that admits to knowing nothing then wait for those other sellers to research or try to learn about DeArmonds or hopefully you will simply buy from me and get the pickup or part you need in guaranteed working condition.DeArmond pickups are all I do! You can buy from me with confidence, check my feedback, it speaks volumes.I will not sell an item I would not feel comfortable performing with myself for any length of time, in any venue, on the largest of live stages or expensive studio situations.Thank you for taking the time to read this and for helping keep DeArmond pickups alive and relevant in todays music market place.Sincerely, Mitch
