Vintage Doré / Dore Oboe In Hard Case (See Main Description For Lots Of Photos)
Estimated price for orientation: 250 $
Category: Oboes
Class:
Description EAN: Does not apply
A vintage Doré oboe in what we would describe as “good condition for its age”. We do not know the age of this item, but we would estimate that it is from the late 1940s or early 1950s. We assume that it is French. The item has probably not been used for many years, so may need a service. It is approximately 58cm long (measured without a reed - no reed included). We have not been able to find anything about oboes from Doré, but considering the low serial number on this, it would suggest that the manufacturer was not a prolific manufacturer of oboes (we have found a few internet references to Doré clarinets, but not oboes). The item itself appears to be in good condition for its apparent age. There are no splits to the wood and it is solid. The joint collars are not damaged, and there is no damage to the keys or their levers. There are some minor splits to some of the servicable cork pads (but no splits to the cork joint where the two halves join). There is no key for the case. The carry case has damage as you can see from the photographs, but this obviously does not affect the instrument itself. The oboe is not supplied with any reeds. We are selling this on the basis that it may need a minor service to bring it back into action. It was purchased from a house clearance and we have not attempted to play this item. We strongly recommend that the buyer applies some cork grease before assembling the item. We are not experts in woodwind instruments and have not attempted to lubricate anything (in our experience, attempting to undertake servicing for items that one knows little about is a bad idea and best left to the experts. Therefore we have not done anything to it, but all mechanical bits appear to operate correctly). sku 140
