Up for sale, a 2011 Fender Custom Shop '62 Jazzmaster Relic from the "Time Machine" series in exceptional condition and in perfect working order. 100% stock and complete with the original case candy, COA, and brown tolex G&G hardshell case, this is a prime example of a limited run Jazzmaster with Custom Shop quality. Tastefully aged, the guitar sports a factory Lake Placid Blue nitro lacquer finish, accented by the matching headstock and original tortoise pickguard. The Time Machine series of Custom Shop instruments endeavors to deliver a guitar that has the honestly played in feel and response of a genuine vintage example, and this Jazzmaster truly delivers the goods. Lightweight and resonant at 8lbs on the dot, the guitar has an ash body, one-piece quartersawn maple neck, and thick slab rosewood fretboard. Tonally, there's plenty to be excited about here, with the rich detail, chime, and twang associated with the Jazzmaster single coil pickups, wound to original spec with beveled alnico pole pieces. While the bridge pickup is spanky with a touch of growl, the neck pickup has more girth and roundness without sacrificing clarity. Switch to the Rhythm Circuit on the bass side body horn and the neck pickup has even more thickness and low end power, perfect for singing leads on a small overdriven tube amp or for adding body to your favorite buzzsaw fuzz pedal. Professionally setup here at Mike & Mike's Guitar Bar, this Jazzmaster is dialed in with optimal action, spot-on intonation, and 11-50 strings. The neck has a quintessential medium C shape, indicative of 1962-63, staying more slender at the nut and gaining rounder, fuller shoulders as you move up the fretboard. The back of the neck has been worn down to the bare, smooth maple as part of the factory relic process, and the fretboard sports 6105 fretwire and a modern 9 1/2" radius. The frets are virtually unplayed, with perfectly rounded crowns and their full factory height. The nut measures 1 5/8" in width. On the headstock, the factory aged Kluson-style Fender-branded single line tuners turns smoothly and hold pitch well. Arguably a must for any genuine custom color Jazzmaster reissue, the headstock features a gloss nitro lacquer finish matching the Lake Placid Blue body, and topped off with a Pre-CBS spec "spaghetti" Jazzmaster logo. All of the electronics work as they should, all of the factory hardware is present, and both the plastic and metal parts have tasteful factory aging. The vibrato has a smooth and responsive feel for quick surfy warbles and dives. In terms of cosmetic wear, it's difficult to separate out honest playwear from the factory relic job, but suffice it to say that this guitar has been extremely well cared for since new, with barely a scratch on it aside from what was applied in terms of nicks, dings, and finish checking at the factory. The prominent grain of the ash body can also faintly be seen through the thin and resonant nitro lacquer finish. The original brown tolex G&G hardshell case is included (also near mint), along with the hangtags, COA, and case candy!***We are dealers for the Mastery M1 bridge, Offset Vibrato, and Lollar Jazzmaster pickups, any or all of which can be installed prior to shipment for an additional charge***
