Up for your consideration is this 1930's Gibson/Kalamazoo 5 string conversion banjo. If you are looking for an extremely lightweight banjo because you have back or shoulder issues, or if you are just tired of lugging around your 13 lb banjo, this just might be the one for you! The sound that can come from a non-tone ring prewar rim is absolutely amazing... If you are looking at this you probably already know the particulars, but for those of you who don't, Gibson manufactured these in the 30's as an entry level banjo. Most had thinner rims than the mastertones of the time, but luckily this one has the full thickness 5/8" 3 ply maple rim.... Like almost everyone who has a banjo for sale says, "this banjo has an amazing voice".. But what I can tell you is that this thing is absolutely a powerhouse! .. It's so good that my wife came into the room the other day where I was playing it and she was blown away.. (and she's not a fan of banjo!).. In addition to it being such a good, deep, powerful sounding banjo, it has a very comfortable almost new neck. I am told that it is a FQMS neck. The frets are perfect, and show no wear. The tuners are new Gotoh's with black buttons. It has a new bridge and is just a great overall banjo. You WILL NOT be dissapointed in this banjo.. it's got all the volume, and tone you could ever want.. It does have a small nick out of the wood at the heel where it joins the body.. not bad at all, I believe it can be seen in one of the photos.. That's about it for the bad.. the nick is about an inch long and doesn't effect anything... So if you're looking for a great banjo as a back up, entry level, or even your main banjo, you will not be dissapointed.. I've thrown in one of our Lakota Leathers 2" non-cradle straps as a bonus and will ship anywhere in the US for $50. International buyers must pay actual shipping. I wish I knew how to upload a sound byte.. If I could and / or if you could hear this thing, you would purchase it... I've got a prewar Granada and original 5 string 11 or it would NOT be for sale.. I just can't stress enough how good this banjo sounds.. Feel free to email me or call with any questions. I'm always interested in trades for old Gibson stuff, a Gibson 2 piece flange conversion neck, and possibly a vintage Goldstar... thanks for lookingTHIS BANJO IS FOR SALE ON BANJO HANGOUT AND LOCALLY> I RESERVE THE RIGHT TO END THE AUCTION EARLY IF I SELL IT ELSEWHERE.
