Broadwood Antique Upright Piano with an Exquisite Burr Walnut Case C.1894 A beautiful John Broadwood and Sons upright piano made in London circa 1894, serial number 82556. Burr walnut case with exotic inlay depicting flowers, ribbons and musical instruments, carved leg detail, oblique strung iron frame with over-damped mechanism, 7 octaves, original 85 note keyboard in excellent condition, retractable music desk, soft and sustain pedals, working order with a light touch and pleasing period tone, tuned and inspected June 2016. A good beginners instrument and fine antique centrepiece by the illustrious English maker. Dimensions W 140cm x H 122cm x D 65cm Broadwood History Established in 1728, John Broadwood and Sons is the oldest and one of the most prestigious piano makers of all time. Their instruments have been enjoyed by famous composers and musicians, including: Beethoven, Chopin, Mozart, Liszt and Williams. Broadwood also holds the Royal Warrant for pianoforte making to Queen Elizabeth II and all predecessors since 1761.
