Description

Here is a great example of the very rare violin concert zither by Franz Schwarzer of Washington MO. This instrument dates to Circa 1909 and is the model 108 which is the top of the line model, with fine wood. Instrument has been in the same family since it was originally purchased, there was a relative who was a child prodigy zither player who toured around the US with different vaudeville acts. The instrument is branded on the inside with Scwarzer's maker mark. The back measures 16" and bouts are 7 3/4" and 10 1/4". Instrument is in good solid shape, has some solid cracks but nothing too bad. Also has the original tuner knobs, one has a crack. Just a wonderful example, the National Musical instrument museum website has all three models pictured and loss of info on the maker. I believe it states less than 200 of these were made, so very rare and a piece for the advanced collector. This is a Used and/or Vintage Item fresh out of an Estate.
