About this GuitarOne of the coolest 1960's Japanese Guitars I have ever seen - and no, its NOT a Tesco!Let me introduce to you the St. George MP-3. With an unusual headstock (that grows on you with time), a load of kill-switches, mute bridge, and whammy bar, this Vintage Made in Japan Guitar from 1965 is as unique as it is fun to play. There is a main kill switch and 3 on/off mic switches for each of the 3 pickups, which produce a nice variety of tones. Also includes a muter at the bridge to mute the strings and a whammy bar, all in excellent working condition.This guitar was taken to a certified Luthier who reset the neck, rewired all the interior components, added new strings, cleaned it up inside and out, pretty much got it in working order (The guitar did not produce sound when I first plugged it into an amp) now it sounds and works great!All original hardware with some wear and tear expected for its age, most of which is on the back. There is some thick stuff that comes off with elbow grease in a few spots, (I got some of it off already) and a few dings and scratches. See images for the best description and details. Origin / ManufacturerAs mentioned above, this is NOT a Tesco, however similarities are evident. I believe the quality of this St. George is better than many Tesco guitars. This is actually a Pleasant Brand Guitar. The Pleasant brand of guitars was manufactured by Shinko Gakki in Japan, from roughly 1965 to 1967 when the company suddenly went bankrupt. Though only active for a short time, Pleasant produced an incredible number of guitars, generally of high quality. Of these exported to the US, were the St. George here before you.These guitars were sold through George's Music Stores in Hollywood and New York. Fans of Rage Against the Machine's Tom Morello will notice this guitar, as he had a "creme" version of the MP-2, and would use it regularly in the studio and on tour due to the tone they can produce and kill switches that is signature to his sound. This guitar is one of the early Fujigen designs, and that Japanese company wasn’t afraid to try different designs like this one. The guitar is super light weight, easy to sling around, and did I mention, extremely fun to play! You definitely won't see a guitar like this very often! Does not include a case but we ship with extreme care in 1-2 boxes, fully insured and trackable vis USPS Priority Mail.This item ships as is! No Returns. Funding a move across country, otherwise I'd keep this beauty!
