Fine baroque viola, beautiful master instrument, converted from original viola da braccio or small viola da gamba. Probably a South German work, 17th century, no makers name.The instument still has original neck & fingerboard, bass-bar and varnish. Wood is of finest quality. So is the woodwork. General condition is very good. Instrument can be used as is (as a viola) or easily rebuild to a five- or six-string model. The sound is brilliant.
