Vintage Vega Director Guitar Amp 1950’s Boston Made with Tremolo Extremely Rare Near Mint Condition No ReserveDue to my minimal technical knowledge about this amp, I have copied the following text in italic bold font from the only other Vega Director amp I have seen on eBay that is identical to my amp except that my amp has the factory Tremolo unit. This is a extremely rare 1959 Vega Director Amp built in Boston, Mass. Good luck finding much on a search engine for this amp although you will find a '56 Vega on YouTube (smaller amp). This is very similar to a Fe..der Tweed Deluxe with a circuit nearly identical to the well know 5E3. It is all original. The tube compliment consists of 12AY7 preamp, 12AX7 phase inverter, 2 - RCA 6V6 GC black glass power tubes, and an RCA 5y3 rectifier.
Now the goodies...it sports the original pristine Jensen "Blue" P12R Special Design speaker...but wait...what's that 8" alnico speaker doing next to it. I don't know but man, do the two of them put out some sweet rock and blues tone! Really, I've built a few Tweed Deluxe clones and they don't sound this sweet. It's covet worthy.
So there it is, as for my amp, I acquired it about 15 years ago along with a Boston made solid body guitar and now that I’m retired I am thinning out my music gear. This may be one of the most pristine Vega amps you will ever find. The exterior tolex is near mint except for the left upper edge where the tolex has pealed back I bit (see photo). The grill and name plate is perfect. You can tell that this amp has been put away and hardly used for 57 years by looking at the new looking exterior and especially the leather handle. All of the electronics appear to be untouched & original and everything works including the tremolo. Once warmed up the amp is very quiet but you will hear a little hiss when you turn up the boost knob and run the tremolo. It will play louder than I want to play in my house and as you turn it up, the tone comes alive. The tremolo functions but is not as robust as a Fender tremolo (I do not have the foot switch for the tremolo). The amp measures 22” wide X 17.5” tall X 9” deep and weighs about 25 pounds.I got the wording below from another eBay seller and it describes exactly how I want to manage my Guitar /Amp transactions.I only ship fully insured to the lower 48 states and nowhere else. I describe all guitars to the best of my abilities. I don't take every guitar apart to check every freaking screw. I disclose all obvious flaws just so there are no misunderstandings. All guitars are sold as is. My feedback is public record and I aim to keep it good. I do not do local pickup. Make sure to look at all pictures carefully, ask all questions before you bid! All sales are final, and there will be no refunds or returns unless you can prove an item was grossly misrepresented. Consider this a contract if you bid. Sorry it has to be like this, blame the clever scam artists that spend all their time trying to beat somebody instead of working. Most deliveries will require adult signature.Happy Bidding
