Conn 8H Professional Large Bore Tenor Trombone- The 88H without the valve From the fabled Elkhart factory 8 1/2 Rose Brass BellTraditional Wrap F Attachment .547 LargeBore No Dents! Very Good Slide Action Serial 997XXX- 1962- The Very Best of Times at Conn   A VERY famous longtime major symphony trombonist was doing a master class a few years ago and he said "The more stuff you put on a trombone, the worse it plays" He was a lifelong Conn 88H artist but used the 8H without the valve every chance he got.I have a 1961 8H in my collection that I bought about 10 years ago and would never let it go. If you have never played a large bore tenor without a valve you will be surprised by how much more vibrancy there is without all that extra mass from the valve section to deaden the vibrations. There is a reason the jazzers don't generally hang valves on their horns. This trombone typifies the best of the Elkhart years that made the Conn trombones legendary. You can feel and hear the difference. Pedals pop, it can just melt a ballad, and soar up into the highest register. Vibrancy and overtones are everywhere. This one came to me with just a few issues- a few dents I had professionally removed and a need for slide cleaning and alignment. After a quick run through my talented tech's shop, what you get is is a dent free horn with an excellent slide. One inner slide tube has two spots of plating wear an eigth of an inch in diameter- a frequent Conn weakness in the 60's- this one is way better than most. Lacquer is in good condition. Comes with pristine Remington mouthpiece- about a 6 1/2 size- good piece and possibly the original for the horn Also a case that has been cosmetically and structurally enhanced. Now a good option to transport and protect the horn, It needed quite a bit of work but is now cosmetically acceptable and structurally sound.Elkhart Conns are getting rarer all the time, many not in great shape. This is one that is ready to play as soon as you get it. Your chance to get a legendary classic at what should be a very good price with new (and lesser) straight horns going for $2000 these daysI will ship very well packed to the lower 48 states for $55 and elsewhere for actual cost by US Postal service. Europe and Japan should expect to pay about$100 for shipping - Australia a bit moreNo reserve or Buy It Now on this one. Auction will set the price and High Bidder wins it!!!
