ITEM: ONE (1) 1965 FENDER VIBRO CHAMP AMPLIFIERAGE: OD / APRIL 1965 MANUFACTURER: FENDERCOUNTRY OF MANUFACTURE: UNITED STATES OF AMERICACOLOR: BLACK FACEDESCRIPTION: Offered at auction is a SCARCE, vintage, 1965 FENDER VIBRO CHAMP amplifier! Straight out of the Bob Dylan transition era, we discovered this gem several years ago in a Norfolk, Virginia estate. this amplifier is in working order. Manufacturer information appears on components. This particular example, serial number A 02544, is 100% all original and in wonderful condition. Since most of these amps were abused, mistreated and poorly stored, it is extremely rare to find an example this nice and original. This fantastic specimen has all of the original electronic components, speaker, and even the power cord. This amp includes the original RCA black plate power and rectifier tube, and the other tubes appear to be all original. "Fender Electric Instrument Co." printed on the face plate, the knobs have set screws at 10, and the chassis is marked as the "Fender Electric Instrument Co." Blackface Fender Champs and Vibro-Champs are great for both recording and practice applications. Most associate the blackface Fender era with beautiful clean warm tone, and while that is certainly true, this little amp produces harmonically rich overdrive when pushed all the way. Since this particular example has been very well-preserved, it sounds as good as it looks. A great addition to your vintage rock music memorabilia collection!CONDITION DETAILS: VERY GOOD to NEAR MINT WORKING ORDER. The black vinyl Tolex exterior is in extremely excellent condition. The silver/grey/black stripe grill cloth is only slightly but evenly faded: it still remains crisp and attractive with no snares, rips or frays. The appearance and structural integrity are also very fine. The control panel is crisp and clean with only a few minor blemishes. All of the hardware is in very good condition with the exception of some pitting on the handles and trim, and the chassis is quite clean. No rips, tears, gouges, or other detracting damage.
