This Fender Dual Showman Reverb TFL5000D is a rare and highly sought after guitar amp head. There are other more well known early Fender amps, but this model is known and loved by classic Fender aficionados. Based on my research, I believe this amps was built in 1971. This is easily one of the better condition units of this model currently available for sale in the US. It is built for 4 ohm output at 100 watts RMS, but with the common practice of removing 2 of 4 output 6L6 tubes, it converts to approx. 50 watt - 8 ohm unit.Many have said this model is the best sounding amp they have played. This has been THAT amp for me, and thought I would never part with it (... and I will probably regret selling it!). It is certainly one of the most powerful ever built by Fender; rated at 100 watts. Fender employee inside joke nickname: "TFL = Too Freakin' Loud". With no master volume control, it is built to have clean headroom to the moon. I can't imagine a better "pedal platform".The circuitry is identical to the venerable Fender Twin Reverb, but in the form of a head, and bumped to 100 watts of power instead of 85 watts.This model was made famous Dick Dale - King of Surf Guitar. Leo Fender kept giving Dale amps and Dale kept blowing them up! Till one night Leo went down to the Rendezvous Ballroom on the Balboa Peninsula in Balboa, California and stood in the middle of four thousand screaming and dancing Dick Dale fans, and said, I now know what Dick Dale is trying to tell me. They went to James B. Lansing loudspeaker company and explained that they wanted a fifteen inch loudspeaker built to their specifications. The unit became famous as the 15" JBL D130F model. It made the complete package for Dale to play through and was named the Single Showman Amp. When Dale plugged his Fender Stratocaster guitar into the new Showman Amp and loudspeaker cabinet, Dale became the first person on earth to jump from the volume scale of a modest quiet guitar player (on a scale of 4) to blasting up through the volume scale to TEN! That is when Dale became the "Father of Heavy Metal" as quoted from Guitar Player magazine. Dale broke through the electronic barrier limitations of that era!The Fender Dual Showman rigs were used by Jimmy Page and Chris Dreja in the last few months of the Yardbirds, and by Page into the start of Led Zeppelin.Footswitch not included; I don't have one for this amp.
