Important: Please read the full description. Product Description: Up for auction is my fabulous, flamed maple 2002 Gibson ES-335 TDC Reissue made in Memphis, Tennessee, USA, the home of Gibson semi-acoustic guitars (NB. some web sources, suggest it was made in Gibson’s Nashville plant). It is finished in a stunning deep cherry red nitrocellulose finish, which really shows off the exquisitely figured maple wood grain beneath. This is THE colour to have. The finish is beautiful and the flame maple is much nicer than shown in the photos. The original Gibson hardware is mostly nickel (rather than the more common shiny chrome), which has dulled very nicely to give it an authentic vintage vibe. The Reissue, like the ‘Dot’ before it, has dot fingerboard markers just like the originals prior to 1962. Apart from the ‘bling’ of the flame maple, this guitar probably represents the classic look for a Gibson ES‑335. The deep cherry finish, nickel hardware and black plastic is absolutely gorgeous, especially in combination with the sumptuous figured woodgrain. The ES-335 model was originally designed by the president of Gibson Guitar Corporation at the time, the legendary Ted McCarty (1910‑2001) and it has been in continuous production, largely unchanged, since it was launched in 1958 – 59 years ago! The innovative semi‑acoustic thinline archtop body has a solid maple centre block to support the twin humbucking pickups, tune‑o‑matic bridge and stop tailpiece, thereby increasing sustain and reducing the risk of on‑stage feedback at high-gain levels. ES-335s are hugely flexible pro-level guitars and have been used as all‑purpose workhorses by many professional musicians over nearly 6 decades. It has a very strong reputation as one of the most adaptable electric guitars, well-suited to most musical styles and genres. The ES-335 is the guitar of choice for rock artists past and present, including the likes of Alvin Lee, BB King, Larry Carlton, Eric Clapton, Matthew Followill (Kings Of Leon), John Lee Hooker, Noel Gallagher, Robben Ford, John Scofield, Alex Lifeson (Rush), and Lee Ritenour, amongst others. From 2002, Gibson significantly improved manufacturing quality to very good effect, as seen on this lovely example. This cool ES-335 has been owned by me from new (bought from Vintage & Rare Guitars in Denmark Street, London around 2002 or 2003). It has had only occasional use over the past 14/15 years. It is a very good high-end professional quality instrument and I will be very sorry to see it go. I am now concentrating on vintage instruments, so it is time for this ‘modern’ take on an iconic guitar and future vintage collectable to find a new home. I am extremely fussy about my guitars and this is a very fine example that has been very well-cared for (and barely played in). It is a genuine industry-standard classic – a true icon that is ready to rock. Features: · Semi-acoustic thinline flame maple laminated body with 2 unbound f-holes · Solid maple centre block · Bright, deep red cherry nitrocellulose finish over flame maple · Mahogany set neck · Neck scale length 24¾” · Original Grover tuners · Bound rosewood fingerboard with 22 frets and dot markers · Original nickel hardware · Original 3-ply black/white/black scratchplate · Original Gibson twin humbucking pickups with 3-way selector switch · Original pots, jack socket and strap buttons · Original bridge and tailpiece · Weight: 6.8lbs (3.1kgs) · Original Gibson ‘Memphis’ hard shell case · Serial number 02142*** For further information, see the feature about this guitar on the CRAVE Guitars’ web site, with some more photos: Condition: This guitar has only had occasional home use and has never been gigged. It has very minimal play wear and is in very clean condition indeed. While it has been played, there are no dings, nicks, dents or buckle rash. There is no damage and no modifications. The nickel hardware has tarnished naturally, just as it should do over time. It comes with its original Gibson black hard shell ‘Memphis’ case. It will be checked over, polished and have a new set of strings installed before dispatch. As the value of this instrument is high, safe and free local collection is preferred from West Sussex, UK. Cash on collection is also welcomed to save on steep PayPal fees. Packing and standard 48-hour Parcelforce delivery for up to £1k insurance is £42. Full cover is much higher and the option is with the buyer to choose whether to pay for additional insurance to cover the full value and/or 24-hour delivery. Please note that this is a UK-only auction. Thanks for looking. Low starting price. Good luck bidding.
