Vintage RARE 1950's BS-36W Atlas Professional microphone floor stand w boom arm

Hello and welcome to The House of Chrome. You are looking at a somewhat rare early generation 1950's era Atlas microphone floor stand (model BS-36W "Professional boom stand") that has a cast iron 15 inch wide base, 3 rolling wheels, two piece retractable chrome stem Made in Brooklyn, NY complete with the extra long boom arm and used for all American screw on type microphones. This stand has typical but liter wear and I would rate this stand an very easy 7 on a scale of 1 - 10. Why buy a new Atlas stand that will only go down in value when you can buy a rarer older make and watch the value only go up in price over the years? Pic # 2 is an old 1966 advertisement of this stand showing it's features though again this stand is the early 50's era BS-36W. This extra heavy duty floor stand was Atlas's most expensive and built like a tank. It was designed for professional applications revolving around any type of circumstances one can think of. The BS-36W was much like the Atlas MS-25 except for that the BS-36W has 3 rolling wheels with the elongated cast iron attachments giving the stand even more width and stability. it also comes with an extra long 61 inch, extra thick boom arm with the extra large cast iron counter weight and gyromatic swivel joint that allows you to suspend your microphone from the end of the boom arm as seen in pic # 3. The original chrome on the stems of the stand shows very lite wear as seen in the pics provided. There are just a few tiny scratches, Zero corrosion or dents. There is a bit more wear on the chrome base cover as seen in pic # 11. The original Atlas painted logo is long gone on the lower stem as they chip off and seldom seen after all these decades. The chrome clutch locking mechanism holds the two stems in place nicely and allows for easy up and down movement when loosened. Stand is adjustable from 38 inches low to 67 inches tall. Tall enough for any user. With the 5 foot boom arm you can get just that much more height either upwards or out towards the side of the stand and with the extremely heavy cast iron base and counterweight it's no problem at all. The 3 original wheels are still present and in excellent condition rolling smoothly when needed. The cast iron base has original paint with a couple chips and scratches. Very lite rust stains on the bottom of the base as seen in pic # 12. The cast iron base is extra wide and extra heavy weighing 24 pounds. Twice as heavy as the standard models. With the boom arm it's about another 10 pounds. This BS-36W has some serious weight and built like a tank. This stand is ideal for those extra heavy vintage microphones that you don't want getting knocked over and broken. Your RCA ribbon or Shure 55 "Fatboy" would look great on this MS-25. These MS-25 stands go back to the late 1950's and nothing really changed on them over the years except for the pads on the bottom and the sticker used on the chrome stem...otherwise, they have kept the same overall design. The boom arm is the extra long version consisting of dual chrome poles. The chrome itself in shows zero corrosion but there are several scratches along the length. It has the 3 original cable clips too which is always a bonus. The cast iron counter weight is in great shape as well and tightly secured. The end of the boom arm has the Atlas gyromatic swivel allowing you to get any angle you need on your microphone or mic clip. The black knobs on the joint mechanism both still work perfectly and you can get any degree of tilt to this boom arm needed. Clutch tightens nicely and easily. The asking price is very reasonable for everything being sold. These early 50's era stands are pretty hard to come by and rarely this nice. Because of the excessive weight and size the shipping will be a bit on the high side and will be shipped in two separate boxes to protect the chrome stems from the heavy cast iron base.
