Up for sale, a 2004 Rickenbacker 4003 bass in excellent conditional and in perfect working order. Nothing beats the midrange and tonal color of a Rickenbacker 4003, and this one has a wonderfully sweet tone with an acoustically resonant body, weighing in at 10lbs. The growl and low end richness of this bass is fantastic, with the sustain that only comes from a neck through body design. Finished in Rickenbacker's sleek Jetglo finish, this bass plays very well with 45-100 roundwound strings and solid intonation.The neck profile is a well rounded C that borders on the chunky side of things with generous shoulders that fill the palm. The 1 5/8" nut width has ideal spacing for easy fingerstyle playing and the frets are in fantastic shape, showing only the faintest wear on the crowns of frets 2-4 beneath the A and D strings, and virtually no wear further up the neck. The lacquered rosewood fretboard sports triangular pearl inlays and the fretboard itself is immaculate. The bass plays well in all registers with no buzzing or dead spots and both truss rods are responsive. On the headstock, the original tuning machines turn smoothly and the "Rickenbacker" logo truss rod cover is intact.All of the electronics are stock and sound great, and the Hi-Gain pickups have strong and consistent output. The chrome hardware has plenty of shine, with only very light, targeted surface patina on the bass side edge of bridge pickup cover. Cosmetically, the bass shows light wear from honest use, with some light buckle rash on the back only in the clear coat and a few tiny nicks on the back and around the body contours. There is also a few faint pick marks on the bass side of the body north of the neck pickup. Overall, this is a well cared for instrument that embodies everything we love about the 4003 model.
