The Silvertone 1454L built by Harmony in Chicago was introduced in 1963 as the top of the line model featuring a single-cutaway hollow-body design, three pickups, and a Bigsby tail. In 1967 it was transformed in to a double-cutaway design and re-designated as model 1485L.This fine example is a 1963 model with all of the original features. This is an all-original example with a few exceptions: The tuners had been replaced with Klusons at some point and then the originals were re-installed (Waverly's I think), and the tortoise pickguard was long gone when I got it so I made a replacement guard. Otherwise, this guitar is original and factory correct. The three DeArmond Silverfoil pickups sound awesome with that sought-after dynamic twang. The three two-position switches are original, fully functioning and even the switch tips are original (you can tell, they are slightly longer than a normal switch tip). Even the six mini-knobs are original and function as they should. The Bigsby B3 is super smooth and vibey, and there are no tuning issues. The original rosewood floating bridge has been positioned for proper intonation and then "tacked" in place with a lo-stick adhesive that stops it from moving around but you can easily remove it without any finish damage. The guitar comes with a newer hybrid case/gigbag. It looks like a thicker gigbag but it has some solid structure to it to protect the guitar like a hardcase. And I'll pack the hell out of for shipping so it will arrive in great condition. The Guitar plays very nicely with low action up and down the neck. The truss rod is functional and the neck is straight. The tone of this guitar is so cool and it can do about anything from rock and roll to country to punk to jazz; it just cuts through the mix.  In terms of condition, the guitar looks awesome for it's age with the exception of some belt buckle rash on the back (see the pictures). That never bothers me, it just means this guitar was played. If it wasn't for the wear on the back, I'd say "Excellent" condition, but with the wear it's just "Very Good". Again, the pictures tell the story.I bought this guitar from a gent who worked in a studio in Detroit and/or Chicago and he said this particular guitar always ended up getting used on sessions because of it's unique vibe and sound. I've used it recording and live and it really is amazing. If possible, click on this link to a Demo by my band Medium Heat. The song is called California and the Silvertone is the tremolo guitar track and the lead at the end. That is this guitar in to a Ampeg Gemini II, and for the lead I stepped on a Greer Lightspeed pedal. Here is the link: In the end, I've got too many guitars and too many Silvertone's, so I'm thinning the herd a bit.
