For auction is a 1962 Gibson L-48. Manufacturer's number stamped inside reads R5016. Solid spruce top, mahogany sides and neck, maple back.I purchased this sweetie about six years ago. It had an opened crack at the lower headstock neck area. Easily glued and clamped. She also had 3 cracks in the top at the sound holes. These repairs were made as soon as I received the guitar and have been sound since with no movement or separation. Shown in photos also are crackling in the finish and a worn spot in the top, 2 pickuard holes..The original tailpiece is cracked so I replaced it with a Hofner Compensator.It gives a wonderful tone and sustain. The fretboard is worn at the first 4 but the jumbo frets are in great shape and have been professionally dressed. The width at the lower bout is 16", upper bout measures 11 1/2", body depth is 3 1/2", body length is 20 1/4". The neck width at the corian nut is 1 3/4" with that comfortable Gibson profile. String height at the 12th fret is 3/32" with plenty of adjustment at the bridge and truss rod. No refinishing except a layer of lacquer over the worn spot on the top. A hard shell case is included. It's in fair condition with all good latches and hinges good padding and the guitar fits perfectly. I have had a guitar repair business here in Ojai Ca. for 25 years now performing almost every repair possible.Buyer is responsible for all shipping costs. Seller accepts Paypal payments only.
