1958 Fender Princeton 5F2-A 1x8" Combo AmplifierFabulous Unmolested Golden Era Fender Amp with one of the most coveted circuits The mid-to-late 1950s "Narrow Panel" Fender Princeton 5F2A has been long sought-after design to clone by boutique amp builders far and wide. Hence, it was originally purchased by us from theMusicStoreLive (was listed for $2200 in May) for some studio session work over the last 3 months. Boy, she didn't disappoint! We put only about 10 hours total on her but sadly need to let her go to make room for some new studio gear. Before we brought her in the booth, we had our seasoned tech replace 2 caps and the three-prong cord. Prior to our purchase she has had some routine maintenance over the years. An additional couple of caps were replaced and it looks as if at some point the output transformer was replaced, most likely the 1960s, only because the stamp is not "265". If you hit the Fender Forums, you'll hear that this was common on the 5F2A Princetons for some reason. This output transformer is the old-school paper-wrapped with ink stamps on top, marked only A_150 - we have included a closeup picture in the listing.  The speaker was swapped for an Eminence 8CS in the late 1990s. You can find the original 8 inch speakers on eBay regularly for $40-60 but we just found no reason to ever take out that Eminence. The amp sounds as phenomenally classic as can be- sensitive with a ton of volume for 4 watts and breakup when you need it. The pots appear to be original and date to 1958 as do the rest of the components including the 66079 power transformer which was one of the earliest trannys that Fender used with plastic-coated wiring as 1958 was the first year that they started appearing. The original speaker (gone) dated to October of 1958 which means this amp was probably sold around Christmas of that year.Cosmetically, the amp is original through and through. Original tweed, original grill, original logo plate, original handle, original knobs, original glides (they have a little old foam on the bottom to keep from sliding), original stickers inside the amp and chasis. The tube chart is stamped "HJ" (1958 October- matches the pots). The tweed has its share of fraying (mostly at the corners where the lacquer wears off first), a cigarette burn on top (Real Mojo!-see picture below) and small tears and the leather of the handle is quite distressed, however there are no major issues with either, just lots of little imperfections. No covering is falling off and the handle moved her around secure as can be. Please review all of the pictures both in the eBay listing and embedded below as they should the amp 360 degrees in and out. This is vintage Fender Class A at its finest. We charge a flat-rate for shipping to ensure that there is enough to insure our fragile and valuable items in transit. In the event that shipping is less, as is the case with customers in in our region, or International Customers in Canada (generally 20% less), we ALWAYS return the overpayment.
