For sale is a very rare, custom modified Roland TR-707 drum machine. This mod allows the adventurous beatsmith to create never-before heard digital sounds from the convenience of a standalone hardware drum machine.Features of the TR-707:• X0X style sequencing (Pattern, Song)• 64 pattern memory• MIDI IN/OUT• DIN SYNC IN/OUT• Trigger OUT• Individual instrument outputs
• Individual sliders per instrumentFeature of the Alien Devices Mod:• 10 point patch bay• 14 Three-way switches• Infinite new sounds from the unitEach combination of switches and cables changes the sound in a different way. For example, the top 4 switches effect only the cymbal sounds. By combining sounds together (say, Kick + Low Tom + Snare), and engaging the switches, the effect will be different than if only the Kick and Snare were active. The sounds this thing makes can be brutal, textural, dynamic, crunchy.. and all very digital. Works well for creating studio layers, breakdowns, etc but also works well in the live setting, including to sync your older non-MIDI gear to modern MIDI gear.Alien Devices stopped performing mods in 2013, and since then this machine has become nearly impossible to find. All the original functionality is left untouched, so you can always play the machine like it was straight from the factory. The unit is in great shape for being 33 years old, almost perfect. There are a couple small scratches on the face - nothing noticeable. The photos show closeups of the affected areas. All the buttons and sliders respond as designed, and the unit will come with it's original power supply, and all necessary patch cables to occupy every patch point at once.
