Fine antique 4/4 size cello, with bow and hard wheeled case
This beautiful cello probably originated in Germany and was rebuilt in 1918 in Kristiania (the original name of Oslo, Norway) by Rijiarett H. Busmoen whose label is in it. As is fitting for an instrument of its age, it has had some chips and tight cracks which explains the economical auction starting price.  There are 3 very tight cracks as follows and 3 chips:
Cracks:9 in - Front right8 in - Front left
3 in - Shoulder to neckChips:
Left corner
Saddle Included is:
An inexpensive bow
An SKB wheeled case in excellent condition

Measurements:
Length from top of the scroll to the bottom: 48 inchesLength of back: 30 inches Lower Body Width: 17 inchesYear: approx. 1898
Endpin: old metal
The label inside reads: Rijiarett H. Busmoen (or F. Busmoen) Kristiania, 1918Kristiania is the original name of Oslo, NorwayHISTORY OF THIS CELLO:
See 1964 photo of Holger Braun playing this cello.  He was born in Denmark and he played for the New York Symphony Orchestra.
The c
ello was donated to the Lake County Performing Arts in Lake County, Illinois 1994 by his niece.  It was repaired by Emile Cos at Loveland Violin in Santa Rosa, Ca approx. yr 2000.

This cello has not been played for years and needs to be set up by a luthier. The pegs need to be adjusted as it does not stay in tune. In my opinion, the tone is beautiful - very rich and mellow.  It is an old cello with scratches and signs of its age. Although I am unable to describe every detail, I have tried to represent it as closely as possible in the images and text of this listing. Please ask questions and study the images. The sale is final with NO returns for the cello or refunds for shipping so please bid carefully.
If you have any questions, please don't hesitate to ask.Good luck bidding!
