Product Description     "What the heck is THAT thing?!?" Yeah, that was our reaction, too, the first time we laid eyes on this mystery machine. What you're looking at here is a one-of-a-kind Epiphone Custom Shop prototype model! Built in 2013, we're not exactly sure why this model was never put into production - because this thing is all kinds of cool!   The Batman-esque double-cutaway solid body has a tight, narrow waist, which gives it just enough of a unique distinction from a Les Paul or an SG.  The bound, carved top boasts a stunning flame maple veneer in a bright Cherry finish. But what really makes this one-off axe stand out are the 24-fret neck and the push-push "killpot" wired into the neck pickup tone knob - features that are certainly not standard on most Epiphone guitars.   While we know most of the specs of this beauty, the unknown elements lie within the body wood, the neck and the pickups. We *think* the body and neck are mahogany, and the pickups are Alnico Classic humbuckers - but given the other unique appointments we've disclosed, it wouldn't surprise us if we were wrong (the pickups are punchy and sound great - we have a hunch they *might* be Gibson USA pickups).   Whatever currently exists in your guitar arsenal, one thing is for sure - you definitely don't have anything quite like this! This is a totally unique piece that would fit well in nearly any guitar collection, so Carpe Diem on this outstanding piece while you still can!     What was refurbished on this guitar: When this guitar came in from the factory, the only issue found by the authorized refurbisher was a bit of "orange peel" effect in the lacquer finish on the back of the body (looks like tiny pin-hole sized dings - they don't show up in photos). No repairs or modifications were made to the guitar - they simply gave it a set-up and left it alone. Aside from the minor "orange peel" finish imperfection, it looks and plays like new. Back of the headstock is stamped "used" and original serial # has been replaced with a new one.
