Serial 308,xxx - Manufactured 1946. Has all snap in resonators and gold-plated Norton springs. Relacquered with some washed out spots in the engraving. Superficial scratching and small dings, no dents. Horn needs overhaul to eliminate wear / slop in the keywork from use, pads are approximately 3 or 4 years old. Leak light shows leaks in both upper & lower stacks and the bell keys - re-floating will solve that after the keys are swedged. Purchased 4 years ago on eBay from a pawn shop seller who did not pack the horn with an endplug which resulted in the octave lever being broken in two - it was replaced with a modern Bundy lever and the original is included with the horn. Neck has a slight pull-down, two rollers in the LH pinky table are stuck. These horns are a transitional model ("155") between the catalog number 127 Buescher tenors which were manufactured up until WWII and the catalog number 156 tenors which were manufactured after serial number 310,xxx. It has different bore dimensions, tone hole sizes and a slightly different sound than the other two models. These were produced immediately after WWII along with the Top Hat & Cane Bueschers - considered the very best in vintage American horns. This auction comes with the horn, original neck, original case (without Buescher case label, likely because they were not available post-WWII), no mouthpiece included. It will be packed well - funds go towards the purchase of another horn which is needed for studies. Thank you for looking and happy bidding. I can provide more photos on request - please message me with any questions.
On Apr-05-17 at 07:40:28 PDT, seller added the following information:Saxquest has a "155" tenor identical to this one save for original lacquer on their horn for $1,600 on their website. Here is a YouTube video of Saxquest's Ben Reece playing on a "155" tenor, 306,xxx with a Core 7* HR mouthpiece. This one is not the one I mentioned above but is a good example of what this horn can sound like, even on very old pads as in the video. https://youtu.be/Hn9JQE4QY5s
