Up for sale, a 2010 Fender American Special HSS Stratocaster, honestly played and in perfect working order. A reengineering of the enduringly popular "Lonestar" model Strat, the America Special HSS pairs an Atomic humbucking bridge pickup with a pair of Custom Shop Texas Special single coils for a very versatile range of tones suited to a multitude of genres. Paired with the Greasebucket tone circuit (a more elegant treble-bleed), you can retain balanced highs and lows while rolling back your volume, keeping your sound clear and detailed. From the punch and growl of the bridge position humbucker to quacky "in between" settings and a very round and solo-worthy neck pickup sound, the American Special HSS delvers on the promise of a quality USA-made Strat at an attractive price point. This guitar weighs in at 8lbs 6oz and has been professionally setup here at Mike & Mike's Guitar Bar, freshly restrung with 11-50 strings and dialed in for low action.The maple neck has a fairly slender C shaped profile with a generous slab rosewood fretboard and dot inlay. The stock medium jumbo fretwire shows virtually no wear with perfectly rounded crowns and decades of fret life. The nut measures a full 1 11/16" in width and the Fender-branded chrome Schaller tuners on the 70's style headstock turn very smoothly.The electronics work as they should, with the pickups wired to a five-way switch, Master Volume control, and dual Tone knobs. The black plastic parts are in great shape with only moderate pick wear in the pick path on the guard, and the chrome plating on the bridge and jack cup have plenty of shine. The gloss sunburst finish is vibrant and warm, fading from amber to deep black at the edges of the body. There are an assortment of light scuffs and a few finish chips around the body contours, most concentrated on the bass side body horn.
