AUTOGRAPHED AND WITH CERTIFICATE OF AUTHENTICITY!Kirk Hammett started using ESP Flying V around 1997, and the KH1 was the first one he appeared using in concerts.I got this guitar around 2002 in a guitar shop in Florida. It was already used, and the seller said it was likely part of Hammett's tour gear (although I cannot confirm this information).Nevertheless, it does come with a Certificate of Authenticity by ESP, stating that the guitar with serial # 16681 (matching the number on its neck) was made to the artist's specifications signed by Kirk Hammett himself. These details can be seen in the photos above. It also has Hammett's autograph on the lower right part of the body, under the volume. I got this autograph myself in 2010 after Metallica's concert in Buenos Aires at the World Magnetic Tour.Being a huge Metallica fan growing up, I always treated it as a collectible guitar, using more for display and rarely playing at all (especially after I got the autograph in 2010). It is in very good condition and it sounds absolutely fantastic! It has a single active EMG pickup, that works great for heavy drive effects. It has a Floyd Rose tremolo locking system as well. I recently replaced the strap buttons (the originals were a little rusty) and fixed the pickup's battery connector. These are as good as new now!It is important to mention these small issues: there are a couple of minor scratches on the guitar body, close to the neck junction. I tried to show in the pictures, but they are so small that it is not possible to see them well (photos 5 and 6). It also does not have its whammy bar (I bought it without one). It might be possible to get a replacement in a guitar store. I never looked for it because, as I said, I was rarely playing it at all. The case has some scratches as well, but... well.. that's what a case is for, right?! It is the original case, by the way. Anyway, there are no major issues, and the guitar's playing and sounding perfectly. Just small things you would expect from a well treated 20+ yr old instrument.Whether this specific guitar was indeed played by Kirk Hammett on tour or not is difficult to tell, but he surely used this model many times during a few years prior to my purchase, as shown in numerous photos and videos.Unfortunately he did not write a date on the Certificate of Authenticity, but the fact that is signed by him makes it more likely that it once could have been part of his gear. This is an extremely rare collectible guitar and it meant a lot to me for many years. The reason I'm selling is simply because I haven't had the time to dedicate to my guitars in general. So I prefer to pass it along to somebody who could admire it and enjoy it more than I could right now.Shipping from Florida to anywhere in the world! Beware of importing taxes!
