The basics, this is a 2016 gibson flying V hp in Ebony. It has the titanium nut and saddles from the factory as well as the fast access heel. If you like to play up around the 15-17 frets the heel fits perfectly in your hand there. The neck is also wide and slim for fast playing. I bought this guitar new in October of 2016.This is what I have done to the guitar, and know that I DO know what I am doing, I am not a hack. The guitar from the factory has satin back and sides. I have wet sanded the finish progressively using 1000 up to 5000 grit to make the back and sides a gloss finish and then used swirl remover and polish to make it shine. At the USA factory they buff the finish to a shine but in the custom shop this is how it is done with wetsanding. So the entire guitar is a gloss finish now.I also removed all the factory pots (push pulls) switches and wiring and totally hand wired it.
When the controls were out of the guitar I sanded the control cavity to smooth it out, painted the bottom of the cavity flat black and then put copper shielding tape in the sides, this is mainly for cosmetics but it does offer some shielding. I added all new gibson pots wich have been ohmed out and matched to the pickups that best suited the reading. Brand new switchcraft switch and jack and wired it with vintage cloth wire. This really makes the tone clearer and punchier compared to the factory wiring rats nest that was in there from the factory. Also added was an Emerson .022 bumblebee cap.I added HP knobs (top hat style) from a 2016 SG which in my opinion look much better than the factory plastic speed knobs. Also an aluminum knurled switch tip and chrome humbucker covers. The pickups are the original pickups. (57 classics i believe, the full spec sheet can for the guitar can be found on the gibson website) Also added were locking tailpiece studs. The original plastic speed knobs, cream switch tip and tailpiece studs will be included with the guitar.I removed the G-force tuning system and put on chrome locking grover tuners with keystone buttons. The original G-force is NOT included with the guitar.I also sanded the fretboard to 2000 grit which gives it a aged smooth feel. From the factory the fretboard is only sanded to about 400 grit and has a rough feel making bends more difficult. If you were to compare this fretboard to one fresh from the factory you will see and feel how much better this treatment is. It has also been oiled after the sanding. The binding has also been detailed and smoothed out on the top. I also added white felt pads to the strap buttons. All in all I have put about an additional 10 hours of detailing time into this guitar and again, if you were to compare this to one fresh from the factory you would see the positive improvement. All this gives the guitar a look and feel of a broken in guitar without any fretwear. The guitar is like brand new with no dings or chips or anything.Again I do these guitars for fun and I think the work I have put into it is something that canb be appreciated by the player. It comes with the origiginal factory HP case with padded handle. The guitar is currently set up with light gauge (.008) strings with low action and about .010 relief at the 8th fret and plays like butter with the vintage feeling low over the binding frets. If you have any questions please feel free to email me.The guitar will be shipped and insured with fed ex.At 1500 dollars I am actually taking a loss on this with the time and money I have put into it but that is ok because I love to work on these guitars. The wiring job I think is the highpoint of the mods as it gives the guitar a more vintage feel, tone and look. If I don't sell it that is fine I will just hold on to it.
