For your consideration is a Solid USA Snare drum. Solid USA was started by Johnny Craviotto in 1984-1985.
In the very beginning he made his reputation around the L.A doing Slingerand Radio King restorations. His repair work was considered some of the best.
He then later went on to form his first drum company making 1ply solid shell snares. These drums where very expensive for that time due to the extensive labor and custom hardware the drum where outfitted with.
The unique hoops, lugs, throw and butt on this drum are all triple chrome plated. In addition the throw off and butt end are super smooth, and propietary.
You wont find anything this over the top on any modern drums. This drum is over 30 years old and has some minor cosmetic blems. Overall in great shape for its age. Amazing sounding drum that would look fantastic in your collection. More info is available on not so modern drummer. "So with the help of the master boat builder and much trial-and-error, Johnny began making his own one-ply drum shells. By 1984-85, Johnny had started to perfect his technique. Word of his drums spread until it caught the attention of Billy Gibson (Huey Lewis & The News). Billy asked Johnny to join forces with him to form a drum company, the Select (later changed to “Solid”) Drum Company."
