Unique Boxwood Basset Clarinet in A by Daniel Bangham Cambridge - England in excellent playing condition. Free of cracks on the wood or repairs. All original. The leather pads are in very good condition. Keywork in perfect working condition. Made of boxwood, ferrules, 14 square brass keys, high without mouthpiece- 77cm. A=430Hz. Pitch is standardised period instrument A= 430, so therefore slightly lower than modern orchestral pitch. This instrument was made by Daniel Bangham, Cambridge, around the early 1990s. It is based on a reconstruction that was made for Antony Pay for his 1980's recording of Mozart's Concerto, the basset section being designed by Edward Planas. The original instrument upon which it was based was a 6 keyed instrument by Tauber, Vienna, c.1790, which was in Nick Shackleton's Collection, now based in Edinburgh, and he was personally a huge support and influence with this instrument. It is made from South American boxwood, as opposed to European boxwood as it was considered more stable when considering constant travel and climate changes. All Banghams instruments were made from this at this time for such players as Colin Lawson, Antony Pay etc and proved very successful. It can be used for Mozart Concerto performances. It has that wonderful resonance so typical of Vienese insturmenst of the time and seems even more so thanks to the basset extension. As the original instrument that Mozart wrote for has not been found, this clarinet is just one way of reconstructing how it might have been. What I can say is that this is a real players instrument! Now over 20 years old, stable and beautiful to play. This basset clarinet was custom made for professional player and is only one piece. Including mouthpiece - Martin Freres a Paris No.7. Without hard case. Payment by Pay Pal. FREE SHIPPING WORLDWIDE.
