*Revision: Even though I added the photo, I forgot to mention this comes with two sets of strings.*Unlike most of my other instruments, I did not buy this new, so I cannot be exactly sure when it was produced. According to the Fender site, Japanese production switched to "Crafted in Japan" just before this model was released (1998) and the serial number does not match the listings for those runs. It matches instruments produced in 1985-86. Since the Fender site says there was some "carry-over" of serial numbers, it is logical to assume this bass was produced in the first year. If anyone has different information, let me know.
I bought this bass about 10 years ago, along with a Yamaha amp (which I am also listing) to do some recording. When that was done, I detuned the bass, and put it in a closet, where it has been since then. As you can see from the photos, it is in excellent condition. The missing clasp on the case happened before I acquired it, so I have no idea what happened there, but there is no corresponding damage on the bass, and the case shuts just as tight as if there were a clasp there. I don't see any reason to go on and on about how great this bass is: The fact that it is a Geddy Lee signature model says just about all there is to say.
