Up for sale is a rare vintage VOX Phantom Xll 12-string electric guitar. I bought this used from the original owner in Carbondale, IL, in 1970 or '71. The serial number is 207937. The guitar was in great shape, except for the back of the body being scratched, due to wear from a belt buckle. The original finish color was off-white. Since I like things perfect, I had the body refinished and it was metal-flaked a marina-blue with black accents in the contoured area of the back, by a local motorcycle shop in Carbondale, IL. There is a slight ding on the back edge of the body where it probably rested on the floor. Other than that, the guitar is in very good shape, considering its age. It has been stored in a climate-controlled, non-smoking environment. I had the guitar restrung and professionally set up at Goez Stringed Instrument Sales & Restoration in St. Louis, MO a few years ago. This guitar has a maple neck, which appears to be D-shaped. The fretboard appears to be ebony. The nut is 1 3/4” wide, 12” radius, and the neck is adorned with dot inlays. It has the original VOX tuners. There are three original single-coil pickups, a three-way pickup selector switch, volume and tone controls, and a Tune-o-matic bridge. It also includes a whammy bar tail-piece. There is a photo that shows that the original bridge cover and muting bar are not installed, but are included. The rubber on the mute bar has deteriorated and will need to be replaced if you should decide to install it back on the guitar.Although I've never tried the feature, I've read that this guitar is capable of operating in stereo with a special Y-cable.This guitar plays really well, sounds great, and during all the time that I owned it, it was played in public on only 2 occasions, for one song,  "California Dreamin'". It definitely kicked butt!It comes in its original hard case, which shows signs of typical wear and tear, particularly on the edges (see photo). The top case latch is missing. The photo shows where the case was repaired at the bottom end. Sold as is. No returns.
