1997 Gibson Les Paul R8 reissue In Vintage Red Finish with hightly very Rare Quilted top. 20 years old and still in great shape, barr some weather checking to the headstock and one small ding on the top. ( see last photo). The "Goodwood Era" Gibson's of the later part of the 90's are beauty to behold. This R8 Vintage Red is no exception, made in small numbers that year with most of them having Bigsby's fitted as standard, so quite rare to see one without. The year after they made a lighter orangy Red and a lot more of them. This Guitar has a lovely feel to it, there is just something about it that makes you want to play it. I guess it's that "1 in 1000" thing. The Quilt top really comes through the Red and looks very different, It's not a highly quilted top but an extremely nice one for anR8. The back also has a one piece mahogany body which has beautiful grain, probably the best i've seen. Weight is 9.20lbs and comes with Ohsc, and Original pickups and pot. These '97's are much sort after over the '98 models because of the much richer cherry colour ( '98 went more orange red) and good quality woods used. These where the base model for the "Slash Snake pit" sig model and we know how good those are.!Thanks for looking. I would much prefer you to pickup, have a play and be happy before buying. I will however post and will be well packaged inside and out and in a shipping carton. Parcel force will be the courier and as we all know they don't insure Guitars of this calibre.
