New old stock German renaissance bass-dulcian (curtal) by Gunter Korber. The curtal is in excellent playing condition. No signs of wear. No cracks on the wood and pins. Pads are in excellent condition. The compression is excellent too - the instrument is ready to play. The dulcian or curtal is a Renaissance woodwind instrument with a double reed and folded conical bore. Equivalent terms in English "Curtal", "Dulzian" in German. It is the predecessor of the modern bassoon. The dulcian is made from a single piece of maple wood, it has a brass keys, butterfly key, pitched in F, A=440Hz, the bell has a detachable maple wooden mute caps (two different types- the first one is closed and the second with many open holes), double F/F#, E/Eb keys, 9 open holes. It has a range of about two and one half octaves, high - 100cm. Including one original brass bocal, two detachable maple wooden mute caps and one reed. Crafted in Germany ca.1980's.
